Buzz's Sports Lounge buzzes with music most nights of the week

Less than a year ago Buzz's got new owners who spruced up the neighborhood bar a bit but left something the neighborhood bar is known for -- good entertainment. Joint Custody, the house band playing Thursdays through Saturday, with Hello Goodbye a Beatles tribute added July 25, is excellent.
Tony Prater (vocals, guitar), Angela Damore (vocals), Blair King (drums), Bobby Krespo (percussion), Angelo Caruso (keyboards) and Jim Lick (bass) put together first-rate sets. From a blues number such as I'd Rather Go Blind to a Santana cover, the band emits a high-energy, soulful sound. Singers Prater and Damore have an excellent vocal range and a lot to add to a song. Although musical numbers are matched to the crowd, and sets change from one night to another, blues dominated the Saturday I visited and seems to be the group's stronghold.
Buzz's musical menu includes karaoke Mondays, a jam session Thursdays, an acoustic guitarist playing everything from Jimmy Buffett to reggae Sundays and a monthly tribute night.
Having live entertainment doesn't seem to raise the prices. Nighttime cocktails start at $3 for well brands, and reasonably priced light bites include chicken quesadilla ($6.95), loaded nachos ($4.95), chicken fingers ($5.50) and mozzarella sticks ($4.95).
Take away the entertainment, and Buzz's still has a lot to offer. The amenities include a pool table, a plethora of dartboards and miniature TVs in the booths. Employees go out of their way to be friendly, and the overall picture is one of a pleasant, clean-cut local lounge.
